Eve - Standing firm even if you're wearing stilettos..

Genesis 3:1-3 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?" The woman said to the serpent, "We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.'

The Snake. How many B movies have been made about the morphed snake or the outerspace snake or the mass snake quantity. There are several websites out there right now that are boasting the top ten snake movies of all time. Why did Satan pick this animal? Obviously he got the job done - but what if he would've used a little puppy or bunny rabbit. (leave your comments about your opinion on this) At this point in the story, Satan - as the snake - is baiting Eve.

Eve stands strong at first - simply tells the serpent that God said 'no'. Shouldn't that be enough for us? Shouldn't we be able to look someone in the eyes and say - God doesn't agree with this, so neither do I. God is so clear on many things in the Bible and having the knowledge of what is in that Bible is priceless.

Here's the downside - we are not stronger than Satan. If Satan attacks us - in whatever form - we cannot defeat him. However; there is One who can. If ever asked or been in a situation where you feel as though Satan is trying to push you out of line - Jesus is the one to turn to. That is why every morning should be spent in His word, studying what He wants us to hear for the day and asking for His protection. Cause Satan is out there, he's sneaky, and he's trying to convince us that there is no hope. Will you be able to defeat him today - have you asked Jesus to guide you and to help you battle against him?

Wonderful post and I needed to read this today. Thank you for your encouraging post. God is faithful.
We do need to stay in the word and walk close to Jesus. Even with just a little distance we are tempted to feed the flesh rather than the spirit. Have a great week-end.

When I am tempted by Satan I follow Jesus' example when he was being tempted in the wilderness for 40 days. I quote scripture. With every answer Jesus responded "It is written." That is why it is SO important for us to have bible verses in our memory so we can quote them. That is the armor of God!

You know I have wondered that too about why not another animal? Did all animals talk then because Eve didn't seem surprised this thing was speaking to her. What's with that? It makes me wonder more about how things really were in that paradise, what God meant for us to have. I guess we will get to see the better thing though in the New Heaven and New Earth.

I do not think animals spoke though but really who knows.
Blessings,
Angela

You amaze me as a Bible teacher/writer. You tie in the Scriptures succintly to where the majority of us are living our lives. Today definitely shows this great art.

A former pastor helped me with this many years ago. His first assignment out of seminary and graduate school was to head a large seminary in Nigeria. The country was near a revoloution and the "warfare" spiritually and naturally was intense for American Christians in that country.

He told me Jesus didn't even argue with Satan out of His human conversation style. He quoted the Bible in every encounter. How could we think we could do differently?

Excellent....thank you for this lesson.

When I feel tempted I simply read the Bible and the temptation goes away. That is how I know that God is more powerful.

Oh!! I'm so glad I have read this on this morning!!

I have been feeling the need to really memorize more Scripture so that I can recall it when needed. I know that if I have Scripture imprinted on my heart and in my mind that God will recall this to me in any and every situation.

As for satan using a bunny or puppy--well....my thoughts on this are that even though we look at these animals as "cute", if they had the same wily personality as satan--Eve probably would have given in just as she did with the snake.

And perhaps today, we wouldn't view them as so "cute", but instead creatures that make our skin crawl (at least, that's how I feel about snakes!).
