Job Begins - And That's The Way It Is

Job 1:1-3 There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job and that man was blameless, upright, fearing God and turning away from evil. Seven sons and three daughters were born to him. His possessions also were 7,000 sheep, 3,000 camels, 500 yoke of oxen, 500 female donkeys, and very many servants; and that man was the greatest of all the men of the east.

Warren Buffett has finally beat out Bill Gates as the richest man in America. Gates had a good run though - thirteen years in first place. Mr. Buffett has hit the record at $62 billion dollars.

Walter Kronkite was once titled as the "most trusted man in America". He read the news, gave his opinion, and people believed it. He was an American icon.

Paul Roos, was officially named 2008 Australian Father of the Year. The Australian Fathers Day Council awarded him this honor in direct relation to how he was raising his children.

Each of these awards are great achievements all on their own, but to have accomplished all three of them? Virtually impossible. Except for Job.

We are introduced to Job in the very first verse of his book. Job has it all and on top of that - he's a God-fearing man. We are so quick to think how easy the Joneses have it because of their high paying jobs and their expensive homes, but with the reputation that Job has, what a difficult time it must be to avoid becoming prideful. We get complements and our head swells, Job has it all and still he remains a good and honorable man.

One day, we will have it all because Jesus will have given it to us - will we be able to stand in His presence and ever think we are worthy? Are we thankful now for all that we have? Do we realize that it is only because of Him that we are even here. Job knew it, and I can't wait to be encouraged by his strength in what we will learn in his book.
